David Anton is the third generation in his family to be a Tampa attorney and his office is in the middle of the Hyde Park District. After he graduated from Jesuit High School in 1977, Mr. Anton enrolled in the University of Florida, receiving his BA in Business Administration with a major in Economics and emphasis on Accounting in 1981. He later earned his JD from the University of Florida College of Law in 1984.
Mr. Anton has been in practice for over three decades and is active in the Hillsborough County and Florida Bar Associations. In both associations, he is in the Elder, Securities, Collaborative, and Family Law sections. Additionally, he is a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association, or PIABA, the superior national association of attorneys who represent public consumers in disputes with the securities industry.
Mr. Anton has been a Collaborative Divorce attorney for about five years, Collaborative Divorce law being a fairly new concept, and certified as a Family Law Mediator for around 20 years. Additionally, he has been a Securities Arbitrator for around 15 years. He is the CEO and President of Cigar City Investment Company, which both develops and manages residential and commercial real estate in and around the Tampa Bay area and has since 1987. He is also frequently a keynote speaker at seminars for Elder Law, Securities Arbitrations, and Family Law. He has held memberships in the Sierra Club, Tampa Historical Society, Schaarai Zedek Synagogue Board of Directors, and the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce, as well as holding positions throughout Tampa Bay’s Jewish community.
Mr. Anton is dedicated to the continuous modernization and innovation of his legal practice. He has quite a bit of experience in contested litigation and alternative dispute resolution, which includes arbitration, mediation, and collaborative law. He successfully settles cases in which that is the best solution, aggressively litigating cases that aren’t settled.
Mr. Anton has focused most of his thirty years in legal practice on family law but he also applies his professional expertise to other necessary disciplines. Dealing with a client’s financial, professional, and personal problems in family law is complicated and often requires experience and knowledge in several different professional areas of expertise. In Mr. Anton’s first 15 years as an attorney, he assisted his clients with various issues outside of family law. His Bachelor’s Degree is in business administration with a major in economics, emphasizing in accounting. He is an experienced business owner, owning and operating both his law practice and his real estate management and development company. Thanks to this experience, he has cultivated skills in areas needed for family law, such as appeals, securities, debt collection, bankruptcy, small business operations, real estate, tax, and accounting.
