Mike Bomberger has been serving and helping injured victims — against large corporations and insurance companies that may only value their bottom line — for over 20 years. Mike’s got his own “bottom line” — record-setting results for each one of his clients. Mike, according to long-time law partner Stephen Estey, is like “a dog on a bone”, working his clients’ cases relentlessly to achieve the best result for them. “He’ll outwork anyone,” adds Estey.
Mike has become well known over the years for record-setting settlements resulting from his diligent and painstaking preparation of rock solid cases. Recent examples include:
- Record $20 million (highest in California history) medical malpractice settlement in the case of a young child who suffered a brain injury due to the negligence of a medical facility in California.
- $20 million product liability settlement for orthopedic injuries from a popular retail product. Mike had worked for five years on behalf of the injured victims.
Estey Bomberger works diligently on just a few cases a year, allowing Mike to allocate more of his personal time and resources to each client. This strategy of attention to detail has proven itself, time and again, in the many record-setting settlements and verdicts. In just the last few years, Mike has acted as counsel on three cases resulting in $10.8 million, $30 million, and $23 million jury verdicts respectively. Verdicts such as these encourage insurance companies to choose to pay Mike’s clients fair settlements rather than risk a trial.
Mike’s vision for the firm is based on promoting respect, integrity and honesty — with clients, partners, peers and employees. These core values, he stresses, help successful organizations stay successful and run optimally with the team working together.
Mike’s personal life includes his wife of over two decades and their four children. Mike enjoys coaching his children’s basketball, soccer and football.
He is a lifelong athlete himself — a former nationally ranked division 1 wrestler and captain of his team at Bucknell University. He is currently a competitive cyclist, averaging 200 miles a week. His involvement in cycling has given him a very personal view into the unique liability challenges of cyclists, and that view has helped him win cases — many that other attorneys had dubbed “not winnable”. He remains active in multiple cyclist causes throughout the state, as well as other causes in and around San Diego. Mike supports the Chadwick Center for Children & Families at Rady Children’s Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Father Joe’s Villages, the Red Cross, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Bird Rock Foundation, Wounded Warriors, the Challenged Athletes Foundation, the San Diego Humane Society and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Voices for Children, and the Keenan’s Kids Foundation.
Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Economics at Bucknell University, and his Juris Doctor degree at California Western School of Law.
